OUR MISSION

Helping to prepare the congregation for sharing eternity with the Lord Jesus Christ by teaching the Word of God, under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, in truth, simplicity and with integrity.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry exists to assist the Pastoral team in teaching the congregation the truths of scripture. Whilst recognizing the importance of sound Godly teaching, the department’s leadership fully acknowledges its role is entirely one of support, and part of a greater team which aims to help people live as God has directed in his Word. AIMS

• Provide clear, bible-based doctrinal teaching for all SICM members( adults, youth and children).
• Bring members into Christian maturity and Christ-like character and, thus, a closer walk with the Lord, in order to become His disciples.
• Teach the major tenets of the Christian faith as described by the Assemblies of God.
• Provide inspiring, interactive and interesting classes.
• Seek to clarify (where possible) any differences of understanding scripture, with the intention of promoting a common acceptance of doctrine.
• Encourage all members of the church to attend an appropriate class( including members of other departments and church officials).
• Encourage full participation during classes.

STRUCTURE

Classes are provided for age groups as detailed below:

• Young Children’s class-Ages 3-7 years.
• Older Children’s class– Ages 8-14 years.
• Youth class– Ages 15-20 years.
• Adult class– Over 20 years of age.( SICM members only; non-members of SICM should first attend and complete the Membership Class, which is not covered by this department.

MODE OF OPERATION

Standards of the conduct of teachers:-

• Teachers are expected to fully comply with the general requirements of SICM.
• Teachers must agree and adhere to the fundamental statements of faith of the Assemblies of God.
• Teachers are required to attend all preparatory lessons and departmental prayer meetings.
• Teachers are required to be present for quite preparation time 10 minutes before the start of each Sunday’s lesson presentation.
• Preparatory lessons- Each topic taught in the classes is first researched and collectively discussed before being presented. (Failure to attend a preparatory lesson will preclude any teacher from actively participating in that topic’s presentation for the duration of that presentation).
• Prayer Focus– the department meets quarterly to pray specifically on matters relevant to the department and also on various issues as directed by the Holy Spirit.
